Allergies are responsible for a range of skin conditions which range from the mildly irritating through to the painful and embarrassing.
The most common symptoms of a skin allergy is some form of itchy skin. This can take the form of a rash, hives (urticaria) or just redness and can occur virtually anywhere on the body. In some cases the causes are easily identifiable such as in contact dermatitis in which direct skin contact with an allergen such as a soap causes symptoms.
Other skin allergy types may prove more difficult to find a cause, for example in recurring chronic urticaria where the trigger remains unknown.
